Early Life and Family
Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. With the encouragement of his father, Jackson’s music career started when he was just five years old. The allegations of child molestation against Jackson first surfaced at the time of 1993. A 13-year-old boy claimed that the pop star had smitten him. Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, at the age of 50, after suffering an unintentional cardiac arrest at Jackson’s Los Angeles home. CPR attempts failed, and Jackson was rushed to a Hospital, and he passed away the next morning. In February 2010, an official coroner’s investigation confirmed that the cause of Jackson’s death was acute propofol poisoning, which is a fatal overdose of a prescription drug cocktail that included the sedatives midazolam, diazepam, and lidocaine. Assisted by his personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson had been taking sedative medications to aid in sleeping at night. Murray admitted to investigators that he believed that Jackson was suffering from an addiction to propofol that Jackson called”his “milk.” Murray reported that he administered propofol via IV at night, in doses of 50 milligrams, and was trying to take Jackson off of the drug when he died. An investigation by the police revealed that Murray was not authorized to prescribe controlled substances throughout the United States of California. The steps he took to save Jackson were also questioned since evidence proved that the standards of care when administering propofol were not met and the equipment recommended to monitor patient health, precise dosage, and resuscitation hadn’t been used. The result was that Jackson’s death was determined to be a murder. Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter on November 7, 2011, securing the maximum sentence of four years.
